LST Galaxia Overview

LST Galaxia is an engaging and interactive educational game designed to prevent bullying, cyberbullying, substance use, and violence among middle school youth. Since middle school is a particularly high risk period for bullying and cyberbullying, LST Galaxia is a perfect complement to the Botvin LifeSkills Training (LST) Middle School program (Levels 1 – 3).

LST Galaxia includes a variety of animated characters and engaging scenarios that reinforce the skills taught in the LST Middle School program, but adds a strong emphasis on preventing bullying and cyberbullying. The game was recently selected as an EdTech “Cool Tool” award finalist for 2020.

Learning Objectives

LST Galaxia reinforces the skills taught in the LST Middle School program.  Below are the key learning objectives  specifically related to bullying/cyberbullying for each game level.

Level 1:

• Practice bullying/cyberbullying situational roles
• Model effective, non-aggressive bystander skills
• Practice appropriate and civil forms of social media use
• Model appropriate coping mechanisms as they relate to bullying

Level 2:

• Recognize subtle forms of bullying
• Understand and communicate harmful effects of bullying/cyberbullying
• Demonstrate competency in a difficult bullying situation
• Promote empathy and understanding for others

Level 3:

• Promote prosocial behavior on and off-campus
• Promote prosocial behavior toward others
• Develop empathy and understanding for others who are different
