Linn County 4th Graders Report Increases in Substance Prevention Knowledge and Skills

During the 2011-2012 school year, Linn County Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program provided LifeSkills Training to 627 fourth grade students attending Linn County schools. Fourth graders who completed the LifeSkills Training report having more of the skills they need to refuse alcohol and other drugs. Post survey results indicate that 96% of Linn County fourth graders report an increase of knowledge in decision-making skills and 91% report an increase of knowledge in refusal skills. Furthermore, 91% report an increase in knowledge related to the harmful effects of tobacco use.
